Wash all parts that come into contact with food in hot water with washing-up liquid. All parts except the motor unit can also be cleaned in a dishwasher. Never immerse the motor unit in water. If necessary, clean it with a damp cloth.
For best results, rinse the parts under the tap before placing them in the dishwasher.
Cleaning the water tank
If food has accidentally entered the water tank, it may become stuck to the heating element and cannot be removed by simply rinsing the tank. Follow these steps to clean the water tank:
- Make sure the appliance is switched off and unplugged.
- Add one sachet of citric acid (10 g) to 200 ml of warm water. Alternatively, mix 150 ml of water with 50 ml of white vinegar (8%).
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution using the measuring cup. Do not fill the water tank directly from the tap.
- Close the water tank lid.
- Place the empty jar in the steaming position.
- Plug in the appliance and turn the control knob to the steaming position. The steaming light turns orange to show that the appliance is steaming.
- After 5–6 minutes of steaming, switch off and unplug the appliance. About 150 ml of water will remain in the water tank.
- Empty the used solution from the water tank.
- Rinse the tank thoroughly several times with fresh water.
- Fill the tank with 200 ml of water. Before using the appliance again, run two complete steaming cycles with no food in the jar, allowing the appliance to switch off automatically each time. Wait 10 minutes between steaming cycles.
- Check that the water tank is completely empty and leave the lid open to help prevent bacterial growth.
